Why did First Citizens move to myfcb.bank?

At First Citizens, we want to make sure when you visit our website that you are, in fact, visiting OUR website. The heightened security requirements for the .bank domain are tightly restricted and only available to verified banks. That means cybercriminals can’t spoof our www.myfcb.bank website and take you someplace BAD while hoping you don’t notice it’s not really us.

Also, moving to www.myfcb.bank helps shorten our URL, providing a more memorable website address for our customers.

Where did .bank come from?

In 2008, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) started allowing the creation of other domains such as .ORG, .NET, .EDU and others. In 2015 .BANK was approved specifically for financial institutions. It is now owned by the American Bankers Association and is managed by a group of banks, insurers, and trade group known as fTLD Registry Services.

What are the additional security benefits?

  • The .BANK domain is only available to legitimate banks that are verified with scrutiny by their regulator. Entities cannot obtain this domain if they are not a bank. This provides customers with a level of confidence that they are accessing a legitimate bank website.
  • Because the .BANK domain is verified and authenticated, phishing, spoofing, internet scams and malicious emails that target bank customers should be reduced.
  • The .BANK extension incorporates the latest security requirements and best practices including a sophisticated suite of specifications, Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC), SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for email authentication & verification. This is unique to .BANK and not instituted with standard domains.

What do I, as a customer, need to do?

We recommend that you create a new bookmark in your internet browser to www.myfcb.bank in order to quickly and efficiently gain access to our website. Browsers become more secure with each new release, so it would be a good idea to make sure you have the latest version of Google, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Internet Explorer installed.

What happens when you try to access www.firstcitizensnb.com

If you go to www.firstcitizensnb.com, you will be automatically redirected to www.myfcb.bank.

Does this affect online banking?

No. You will not notice any disruption in service. Continue to use your same user name and password.

Have any questions?

Please do not hesitate to stop in or call a personal banker at any First Citizens location.
