2020 was a very challenging year, to say the least! Whew! Before jumping into 2021, we’d like to share a collection of First Citizens moments where we gave back to our communities during the coronavirus pandemic:
March
Our Clarion staff showed their appreciation for truck drivers and made 42 goodie bags for the truck drivers at Ennis Corp. Thank you for keeping America moving!
April
Charles City employee Jane Larson volunteered for Meals on Wheels, helping those in need while staying safe.
May
Our New Hampton location donated over 50 homemade masks to MercyOne in New Hampton for their staff and visitors. They donated masks to Great Plays Daycare for all of their staff as well.
June
Osage employee Laura Kukhan delivered face masks to the Osage Community Daycare staff. Here Laura is pictured with Shelley Parks, Director of the daycare.
July
First Citizens donated backpacks to Northern Lights Alliance for the Homeless to give to residents in need. Pictured is Shelter Director Jeannie Churchill with Shelter Board Member and First Citizens employee Joyce Walker.
August
The staff of First Citizens Bank in Osage volunteered to be after school crossing guards at the corner of 5th St and Main St. There was no in-town busing in Osage this year (darn COVID), so volunteers were needed.
September
Despite current events, the Music in the Park event still went on in Mora. The Whitesidewalls was the band and people definitely felt the need to get out - some were setting up their chairs an hour and a half before the show began!
October
The Latimer location worked out a way to get a flu shot clinic going for their customers. They made it a drive-thru clinic with the help of the county nurse. They had 28 people drive-thru for shots!
November
First Citizens Mora staff delivered 540 bags filled with goodies for Welia Health staff. We truly think they are EPIC and appreciate all they have done and continue to do each and every day! Chris Newton, MBA-Materials Management is pictured with Beth Brandt of First Citizens.
December
Our Kanawha location held a food drive and collected food and other necessities (like paper products!) to donate to their local food bank.
We hope these examples of giving back inspire you to see how you can help people in your community. Look around and consider how you can help someone during this challenging time for the world. From all of us at First Citizens, we wish you the best for the coming new year!
